Lots of people think that an HVAC system is just a furnace, some ducts, and maybe a radiator to help spread the heat around. But did you know that, with IMS Heating & Air, there are so many more options to turn your house into just the right kind of comfortable?
From wireless thermostats to UV lights, there are so many more options available to you than you’ve been settling for.
We’re going to start this list off by touching on familiar topics. You all know that HVAC systems are made from furnaces and A/C units–fine. But did you know that your furnace was most likely made before twenty years of improvements were included standard in your average, every-day furnace?
The basic operation of a furnace hasn’t changed much since then. What has changed is your average furnace’s Annual Fuel Use Efficiency rating. If you’re looking for a new furnace, take a look at the label on your old unit. Chances are, you’ll see an increase in the AFUE from somewhere around 75% to our new units that can reach somewhere around 98% efficiency. That means only 2% of your fuel isn’t going to heating your house!
The average thermostat has gone from a box with an “up” and a “down” function to something closer to a full comfort-centered house-controlling computer.
Okay, maybe that’s a little bit of an overstatement. However, it’s not that far off–there are a number of developments that make your thermostat an invaluable center of control for the temperature, humidity, and air quality of your home or office. With new thermostats, it becomes possible to control the zoning of your HVAC system–directing the flow of temperature control to only specific rooms or areas–adjusting different variables from airflow volume to ventilation, and even including an on-board wi-fi unit that lets you control the temperature of your house from a smartphone.
Air Purification/UV Lighting
A lot has changed in recent years about our understanding of indoor air quality. With recent developments in technology and sensor equipment, we’ve gotten to the point at which we not only filter the air, but we can actually catch the airborne particles that decrease your indoor air quality.
Modern air purifiers purify circulated indoor air by killing and capturing airborne pathogens, removing them from the air that circulates in your home. They’re not the only way to keep your house’s air clean, however–if you’re looking for a less expensive option, there are UV light mounts to insert in the interior of your HVAC system, to kill microbial build-up.
You don’t have to live in the 1950’s anymore. Technology has made it so your home can be exactly as comfortable as you want it in every room, to give you absolute control. If you’re interested in having more of a say in what your house feels like, give us a call! IMS Heating & Air can give you the HVAC system you deserve.
