Buying a new furnace is a significant investment. At IMS, we understand what may be holding you back—putting down hundreds of dollars on something you might not ever think about in your day-to-day life is pretty hard. But did you know that there options out there that can save you money on your investment?
Rebates are one of those things that everyone uses, but very few people actually know inside and out. That’s why we here at IMS wanted to bring you some basic information on just what we’re talking about when we use the term ‘rebate.’
At the most basic level, a rebate is when a company gives you back some of the money that you’ve paid when you’ve paid too much for a good or a service. However, the term has grown from its humble origins to something closer to an incentive offered to a consumer based on a certain set of criteria. To put it another way, a company or a governmental organization offers a rebate based on internal math that tells them you’d be better off having some of the money back than paying full price for something.
Furnace-specific rebates are offered through a lot of different companies, governmental programs, and municipal bodies. What rebate you can get has to do with a whole lump of ugly mathematics based on a large body of variables—everything from the type of furnace you’re using, to the source of its fuel, to the county you live in and the utility provider you use. Different organizations will offer different rebates that can combine to save you money on multiple fronts, or cancel each-other out. Like anything that has to do with bureaucracy, a good rebate has dozens of provisos, qualifiers, and conditions that have to be fulfilled before you save money.
Luckily, IMS Heating and Air has made it our business to learn the ins- and outs of the rebate game. We’ve done all of the research possible in order to get you from buying a new furnace to finding out how much less you’ll be spending from any number of different sources. If the thought of dealing with bureaucratic paperwork and jumbled-up equations, don’t worry—IMS Heating and Air is in your corner.
